These ancient mineral-rich landscapes have yielded some of the world's most prized sapphires, spinels, garnets and cat's eye gemstones for centuries.

One of the most famous examples is the “Blue Belle of Asia” sapphire, a 392.52-carat masterpiece discovered in Sri Lanka and later sold at Christie’s, celebrated for its exceptional clarity and size.
