The island has produced some of the world’s most famous gemstones, including the legendary “Blue Belle of Asia” (392.52 carats), one of the largest and most valuable sapphires ever discovered, which gained global recognition at Christie’s.
Other remarkable finds, such as the “Star of Lanka” and large star sapphires displayed in royal and museum collections worldwide, continue to reinforce Sri Lanka’s reputation as one of the true capitals of fine gemstones.
